Italian Language and Culture
This course will enable the students to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to communicate in Italian in a variety of school, travel, leisure and job related contexts. By being able to understand this language, students become more aware of the importance of being bilingual and develop an appreciation of other cultures and a greater awareness of their own.
Italian 10 Level 1
Italian 10 is an introductory level course. No previous knowledge or study of Italian is required. Students will be able to understand, in structured contexts, the meaning of simple, concrete ideas expressed in oral an written communications based on such themes as school, people around them, holidays and celebrations, community and social life, and trips and excursions.
Italian 20 Level 2
Students will have the opportunity to solidify skills and knowledge learned previously and to build on these skills with more complex and creative language use based on the following themes: hobbies and entertainment, shopping, health, exercise and safety, daily routines (past and present) and vacations.
Italian 30 Level 3
Students will have the opportunity to solidify previous skills and knowledge. By the end of this course, they should be able to communicate in Italian within a variety of contexts of everyday life, i.e. communications and technology, the world of work, arts and literature, current events and the environment.
