The Learning Commons facilities are designated as both a quiet and collaborative working area for
research, study and leisure reading from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The Learning Commons at St. Mary’s
offers a wide selection of books, periodicals, records and several programs on CD-Rom. Internet facilities
are also available in the Learning Commons for research purposes. Books are normally signed out for a
two-week period, although books in heavy demand are designated as overnight only and are to be signed
out at the end of the day and return before classes the following morning. Food and drinks are not
allowed in the Learning Commons. Students must be wearing school I.D. to gain entry to the library.
The Resource Management System (Destiny) allows you to login to your home school library using your district username and password and provides access to learning resources at all schools and the Instructional Materials Centre (IMC). You can now search and view items from both your own school learning commons and the district IMC at one time. Use your school learning commons catalogue to search and request IMC resources.
