Students who have completed Grade 6 in an all-English regular program may enter a three-year Late Immersion program in Grade 7.

Late French Immersion is a form of bilingual education designed for Grade 7 students who are NOT proficient in French, upon entrance into the program. No previous background in the language is necessary to enter this program.

The program is conducted in French which addresses language learning through the instruction of the Grade 7 curriculums. This program provides the opportunity for students to acquire an understanding and an appreciation of the French language and culture. Students will achieve functional proficiency in the French language while maintaining and continuing to develop skills in the English language. Students will master subject content at their appropriate grade level.

Late Immersion students are taught their Core Subjects separately in both Grades 7 & 8 than the Continuing French Immersion students, but are all integrated by Grade 9.

Proportion Goal of French to English:

Grades 7, 8 and 9:

50-57% French; 43-50% English

French Language Arts, Mathematics, Science & Social Studies

Subjects taught in English:

Grades 7, 8 and 9:

English Language Arts, Religion, Physical Education and Option classes chosen.
