Dear Parents,

Welcome to Saint Monica School. Our school is rich in history, being one of the founding Calgary Catholic schools. Its patron, Saint Monica, is known for her faith conviction and as mother of Saint Augustine.

Our school draws on that tradition of dedication and commitment as a Catholic Community of Caring, embracing the values of: Caring, Family, Respect, Responsibility and Trust. A central tenant of Our Core Purpose is that:

Through a collaborative approach to learning, we are dedicated to developing a strong, supportive learning environment. Individuals are encouraged to take leadership roles and to take risks for school improvement. Diversity in our community is a strength whereby individual perspectives are encouraged, acknowledged and respected.

Saint Monica School serves a large area of the downtown core including the communities of: Beltline,Mission, Cliff Bungalow, Rideau Park, Roxboro, Ramsay, Erlton, East Village, Highfield and Parkhill. Programs for Pre-School, Kindergarten, Elementary and Junior High students are provided. Our strength lies in our diversity of cultures, small-school environment, smaller class sizes and community-responsive programming. We are ideally situated to accommodate families with educational needs that are tied to workplace realities, making us a perfect choice as a downtown placement school.

Saint Monica School also offers congregated setting programs for Next Steps (behavioral transitioning) and Connections – Division I & II (autism support). These programs are school district supported. Students transitioning into high school have Saint Mary’s High School just minutes away. Our liturgical calendar and faith formation revolves around the accessibility of Saint Mary’s Cathedral.

We have strong community partnerships with the following agencies: Calgary Catholic Immigration Society Out of School Club, City of Calgary’s Beltline After School Program, Boy’s and Girl’s Club Youth Service, Bridges In-School Settlement, Louis Dreyfus Commodities and Alberta Treasury, Stampede Station branch.
