DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMS BEGINNING IN FEBRUARY OF 2021

Dual Credit programs are opportunities for high school students to earn high school and post secondary credits by participating in a Certificate program while in high school. Students planning to take any of the programs listed below are required to complete the workplace safety course hcs3000. Students are encouraged to meet with Mrs. Campbell, the Career Practitioner, to complete the resume and cover letter required for the application process. Due dates will vary.

DUAL CREDIT HEALTH CARE ESSENTIALS: Would you like to explore various career pathways in Health? SAIT is offering a 1 semester program from February to June 2021 - 8:30 am to 11:30 am Monday to Thursday for interested high school students. Completion of Biology 20 is recommended to strengthen student performance in the program. Students will take courses in: Medical Terminology, Health Care Professionalism, Infections Prevention and Control, Anatomy and Physiology and participate in a Medical Simulation Lab. Students will earn both high school and post secondary credits. Check out D2L for the overview and application form. DUAL CREDIT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT CERTIFICATE: Are you interested in Software Development?In this program students will learn to create programs that solve problems, contrast current and past approaches to programming and gain insight into the elements of computer architecture, networking and programs that control device function.Students applying to this program are encouraged to completed Math 20 -1 of Math 20-2.Students will earn 10 high school credits.Classes are taken through Bow Valley College from 2:00 – 4:30 PM Tuesday and Thursday. Applications are available on D2L and will be due December 4th.

Would you like to earn a SAIT post secondary certificate while attending high school? for this exciting program. Biology 20 must be taken prior to semester 2 of Grade 11. An unpaid summer practicum is required. Classes will take place MONDAY TO THURSDAY 8:30 – 11:30 AM at SAIT from September 2021 to June 2022. This is a one year program that requires the student to have a Block 1 & 2 spare. You will attend classes at SAIT Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am from September 2021 to June 2022. Would you like to earn a post secondary certificate while attending high school? Olds College is offering students the opportunity to complete the Veterinary Technical Assistant Certificate while in High School at their Bow Valley College Campus in Calgary. Students will require a Block 4 spare for their Grade 11 and 12 years.Classes will take place on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 – 6:30 PM at the Bow Valley College Campus. Students must complete either Biology 20, Chemistry 20 or Science 20 by the end of Semester 1 in Grade 11.
